Jaroslav Orsák tops Tour European Rally at Tuscan Rewind

In Tuscan Rewind, the closing round of the 2017 TER – Tour European Rally, crews from 8 countries tackled two days of fierce competition over the beautiful gravel stages of Tuscany, former playfield of the World Rally Championship.


The Czech crew of Jaroslav Orsák and David Šmeidler, driving a Ford Fiesta R5 by A Team, was fastest in all the event's special stages and reached the finish in Montalcino over 2' ahead of the argentinians Juan Carlos Alonso – Matias Alejandro Mercadal who took second in a Škoda Fabia R5. With this result, Orsák takes the final step of the TER overall series podium.


Dutchmen Jim van den Heuvel and Jouri Dockx, who had secured the TER Production Trophy with one round to spare, were aiming for third place in TER. During the first leg, they fought with the czech team of Tomas Kurka and Karel Vakik, on the second Ford Fiesta R5 by A Team, then managed to increase their advantage on saturday's opening test while their rivals had to settle for fourth.


Two crews battled throughout the event for victory in the TER2 Cup. locals Jacopo Trevisani – Fabio Grimaldi and belgians Joachim Wagemans – Erwin Mombaerts fought on the edge of seconds until SS 12 when Wagemans lost over 20” due to a technical issue. The two ended in fifth and sixth overall respectively.


Belgians Filip Pyck and Peter Dehouck returned to the new concept of rally series after their maiden appearance at their local round of Ypres Rally. Seventh overall and second place in the TER Production Trophy hands them the final podium step in the Trophy standings.


The international crew of Roland Stengg and Ditte Kammersgaard drove their Opel Adam to third place in the TER2 Cup, eighth overall. Renato Pita - Marco Macedo in a Ford Fiesta secured a double victory in the TER 2WD Trophy, in both the event and the final standings. Henk Bakkenes and Jeannette Kvick rejoined in the second leg after a spectacular crash which forced their team to work until late at night.
