Bonato - Boulloud clinch Antibes TER victory

22.05.2022

Yoann Bonato and Benjamin Boulloud took their Citroën C3 to victory in Rallye Antibes Côte d’Azur, and into the series' lead thanks to victory in the TER Power Stage.

The French event, round 2 of the 2022 TER - Tour European Rally, saw the crews battle during two days on the world class alpine stages.

2019 TER Champion Steve Fernandes, codriven by Christophe Leroy on a Škoda Fabia, finished second after a consistent performance.

Nicolas Ciamin and Yannick Roche were second, and Bonato's unique rivals for the victory, until Sunday's mid-day service. A power steering issue to their Hyundai i20 Rally2 in the final loop of stages, solved by the crew before the final test in which they were fastest, left them on the final step of the podium, only 7.7" behind Fernandes.

Bernd Casier and Pieter Vincke finished their maiden 2022 TER event in fourth. The 2017 Tour European Rally runner-up lost time after a puncture to his Ford Fiesta Rally 2 on Saturday, when he was in a close fight with Fernandes.

Patrice and Nicolas Spitalier secured their maiden TER Junior victory driving a Renault Clio. A steep learning curve in their first event in Europe rewarded them with plenty of experience and valuable championship points.

Hugo Margaillan and Laëtitia Marsault retired from second place when their Citroën C3 went off the road in the final stage.
