Simone Tempestini leads Transilvania Rally after day one.

In the 3rd round of the TER – Tour European Rally, Transilvania Rally, 2016 TER winner Simone Tempestini codriven by Sergiu Itu on Skoda Fabia R5 entered the end of day 1 parc fermé in Cluj Napoca leading the provisional TER standings and the overall classification having set the fastest time in 2 scratches of the 3 stages.

Only 6 seconds behind the leaders, second place is occupied by Bogdan Marisca and Sebatian Itu on a Ford Fiesta ahead of Dan Girtofan and Tudor Marza's Skoda Fabia Rally 5. The fourth position is for another local crew, Mihnea Muresan and Alina Bianca Pop on Hyundai I20 R5 ahead of Spanish Luis Vilarino and Alain Pena on Škoda Fabia R5, Cristian Dolofan and Petre Toba with a Citroën C3 R5, Zoltan Juhos codriven by Lorand Bako on Škoda Fabia R5, Enis Arif and Carmen Poenaru on Skoda Fabia R5

The Romanian crew of Alexandru Filip codriven by Eva Mihaela Dobranici on Renault Clio leads the TER 2WD ahead of Eugen Caragui and Robert Patrick Fus with a Peugeot 208 R2. The third position is occupied by the Spanish Edgar Vigo Lopez and Fatima Amaneiro on Peugeot 208 R2 and the Bulgarian Nikola Mishev codriven by Yanaki Yanakiev on Peugeot 208 R2.

Locals Norbert and Francesca Maior on Peugeot 208 R2 are alone in the TER JUNIOR ranking.

The TER crews will return to action tomorrow for Leg 2.
