TER Series takes to Mexico with lots of news

02.04.2022

Great prizes for 2022 and a new global series to debut in 2023.

The Rally of Nations Guanajuato is the second TER Promo Event of the 2022 season. The fast and demanding gravel stages around Leon have attracted World class drivers.

Prior to the start of the event, the TER Series promoter have announced some news for 2022; thanks to the partnership with Yiippi Adrenaline, the winner of the 2022 TER Junior Championship will contest one event in 2023 driving an R5 car. The TER - Tour European Rally and TER Historic will also have some interesting prizes, amongst which are 12 tourist packages to visit Mexico.

Another great news is a further step in the project; in 2023 the TER World Series, with events in different continents. will take the concept of great sports events in unique tourism locations to new heights, A draft calendar for the maiden season of the new series is expected in the next months, with 5-6 events including 1-2 rallyes in Europe which will also count for the Tour European Rally. The TER World Series events will benefit from the same global TV promotion of the Tour European Rally series, which celebrates its seventh season in 2022.

Speaking in a dedicated press conference alongside some of the TER drivers entered in the Rally of Nations Guanajuato, Luca Grilli (TER Promoter and Organiser) said:
We are delighted to be in Mexico. The Rally of Nations is the second TER Promo Event of 2022 after Arctic Lapland Rally in Finland. These Rallyes enjoy the same TV promotion as the TER Series events although they are not part of the championship. We are working to have more of these events during the season, and we will communicate further on this subject in the coming weeks. In the meantime, it’s nice to see all these TER drivers on event and here with us tonight.
This year is the 7th year of the TER, the project began in 2016 and from the beginning our intention was to grow step by step. We wish to keep working together with the event organisers, drivers and teams for an emproved and enhanced global promotion. Our goal is to reach a global audience, beyond merely motorsport fans. The TER rallyes and locations enjoy a wide TV promotion

From the beginning, our staff has been a family for the TER drivers, who we have always tried to help.
The 2023 TER World Series is the next big step, and we have great trust in our project.
We also have new TER Ambassadors, Hiroki Arai and Hayden Paddon, who like Hiroki is working to take part in some TER events in 2022.
Finally, I am happy to announce that we have some great prizes for the 2022 TER series”.

Hans-Peter Kohle (TER Heads of Project & Marketing):
“It is a great pleasure for me to be part of the TER family, to work together with Luca and all the great drivers like the ones we have here. My company, Yiippi, will give the winner of the 2022 TER Junior Championship one event with an R5-Rally2 car in 2023. I hope this is a great opportunity for everybody, and that we can all share the vision of making Rallying the number 1 sport”.

Alberto Battistolli (2022 TER leader):
“Rally Terra Valle del Tevere was a great start to the season for us. We managed to finish in first place after a great battle with Simone Tempestini. It was a beautiful event, we experienced a lot of different conditions, from snow through full wet to the dusty Tuscany stages, all in all it was great and I would be happy in future to take part in more TER events. As Luca Grilli said, the TER is moving forward, a lot of events are joining, also in Asia. It will be an honour if in the future, after this opportunity to take part in the Mexican Rally of Nations we will be able to join You for the upcoming events”.

Hiroki Arai (TER Ambassador for Asia and Japan):
“I am really glad to be part of this project, and look forward to see Asia and Japan involved in the TER World Series. I think this is a great opportunity for promotion in the future, also to bring people from all over the world to Japan to see some great Rallying. In 2022 I plan to contest several TER events in Europe, and together with the TER we will promote a future great Rally in Japan”.

Sebastian Barbu (TER Driver):
“We are delighted to be here and wish to thank all those who made this possible. We will enjoy our time here, and some great events in the 2022 TER championship. We plan to contest as many events as possible, and are ready to show some good pace in the TER series races”.

Niki Schelle (TER Driver):
“It is a great honour for me to be here, and I am grateful to be able to start. I have seen a lot of gravel stages all over the world, and now I can feel the Mexican stages in the race. I am happy that TER is supporting Rally, we have to bring this very enjoyable sport forward”.
